Channel 8 WISH TV Indianapolis Television Station

Channel 8 WISH TV took to the airways on July 1, 1954 to throw in their hats with other fine Indianapolis television stations. Since that very first day of presenting commercial programming over fifty years ago, they have been the CBS affiliate in metropolitan Indianapolis. From its inception, WISH TV has had several different owners. The current owner LIN TV purchased Channel 8 in 1984, and has been responsible for supplying Indy with all the best CBS has to offer ever since. The station’s goal is to be the premier source for 24 hour news and weather here in Central Indiana.

Only Mr. Letterman’s idol Johnny Carson had a longer tenure as a late night host. Born and raised in Broad Ripple, Letterman never forgot his Indiana roots. In 2000 he satisfied one of his life-ling dreams of owning an Indy race car team, which in 2004 reached the zenith of the sport by winning the Indianapolis 500 Mile Race (the Indy 500).
