The impressive roster of names Owl Studios boasts includes jazz legends like Steve Allee, Rob Dixon, Frank Glover, and Cynthia Lane. This studio has gone down in Indianapolis history since its explosion on the Indianapolis cultural scene in 1995. After only nineteen months of gracing the Circle City with a fresh take on music, Owl Studios has more than a dozen releases to its credit.

According to Al Hall, the owner and founder of Owl Studios, “we are approaching the recording business from a rather non-conventional direction. I do not see us as competing in the same arena as the big guys like Sony or MGM, as we haven’t the resources nor the time to play in that sand box. A few unique aspects to our business approach make working with Owl Studios a unique and interesting opportunity.”

Owl Studios embodies a more artist-friendly approach than many other labels, making it one of the most unique record labels in the country. Al Hall focuses on a generous profit-sharing business plan, and has watched his company achieve phenomenal success over the years. Starting in 2007, Owl Studios expanded into music videos, drenching the Indianapolis media in lively jazz and blues from not only a radio perspective, but a visual one as well.

With its firm hold on the downtown Indianapolis scene, it seems only fitting that Owl Studios would call Monument Circle home. Situated in the heart of downtown, Monument Circle gives other Indianapolis cultural districts a run for their money. Only moments away from a plethora of things to do in Indianapolis, including various trendy Indianapolis restaurants and tons of choices for Indianapolis shopping, the Circle is a great place to spend an afternoon.

If you want to take a tour of Owl Studios, you’ll probably also enjoy taking in the sights and sounds of another big name in Indianapolis radio. The studios of WLHK 97.1 Hank FM grace the circle as well, and you’re welcome to pop in and take a look around any time.

Next time you feel like immersing yourself in the unique Indianapolis arts community, make sure to check out featured performances and album releases from Owl Studios.
