Indianapolis’ Park Avenue Band Jams Upon Request

Jazz, rock, rhythm & blues, Latin, disco and pop all fuse to create The Park Avenue Band. This Indianapolis native nine-piece band plays for weddings, parties and special Indianapolis events. Specializing in dance music, The Park Avenue Band is Indy‘s self-proclaimed “get out on the floor and have some fun band.” The Park Avenue Band is a must see in the Indianapolis music scene.

In addition to special events, the Park Avenue Band plays several charity and fund raising events each year. Because of the high quality and professionalism of this band, they are well respected in the Indianapolis art community. Hot spots for the band include venues in Broad Ripple, Indianapolis restaurants and downtown Indianapolis. Besides booking private events, the band really spices up Indianapolis nightlife, playing at several public events and Indianapolis bars, like The Monkey’s Tale.

The band covers music from Aretha Franklin, Hank Williams Jr., The Blues Brothers, Shania Twain, Whitney Houston, Chicago, Nat King Cole and tons more: the list goes on and on. Before booking the band, there is an option of hearing their demo online, ordering their albums, or even meeting them in person. Each member of The Park Avenue Band is a qualified and talented professional musician.

Band Members

Jim Benge is the band’s leader and guitarist. He has won several awards for his musical talent, such as the Marlboro Country Music Award. Jim co-founded the band with Tom Ewigleben.

Tom Ewigleben met Jim while playing for another Indianapolis band. He plays the trombone and is responsible for arranging The Park Avenue Band’s music. Jim also performs with the Indianapolis Brass Choir and two of  his own bands, 4Bones4Him and T-Bone Tom & The Jazz Torino.

Big Jim Albrecht is the band’s bass player. He is well-known in the Indianapolis music scene, mostly for his work as the manager of The Fabulous Starletts. He is also the owner of DCR Recording Studio.

Dan McCarty carries the beat for The Park Avenue Band as their fabulous percussionist. Dan’s drumming expertise stretches to all genres, especially disco and contemporary Christian music.

Fred Yde plays keys for the group. He has years of experience with Indianapolis music, and has performed in nearly every venue in the city. Fred also currently plays with the Cool Chiles, another Indy wedding band.

Dr. Jay Rifkind is the band’s sax player. He earned the nickname of “Doc” within the group because he is a dentist in the Greenwood area. He has played with several local bands, including What’s Cookin? and Hocus Pocus.

Dan Hauger jams on the trumpet for The Park Avenue Band. As a local firefighter, he really knows how to be a musician on fire! Dan is the former lead trumpet player for The Indiana State Bands.

Jerrie Goldsworthy is a vocalist/lead singer and the only female in the band. When she performs covers, you couldn’t tell Jerrie from Whitney, Reba, Shania, or Aretha. She also has years of experience performing with the Indianapolis group Left of Center.

Tim Garland is the male lead singer of the group, known for showing off and strutting his stuff on stage. He has a reputation in the Indiana music industry for his work with Common Ground and other Indy area groups. Not only can Tim sing, but he is quite the actor, performing with several Indianapolis theater groups.
