R Bistro Restaurant in Indianapolis, Indiana:
Restaurant Reviews & Restaurant Comments

Unusual and excellent
Unusual time (1:00 p.m.) for my wife’s birthday lunch…on her actual birthday! Most notable aspect was drinking white wine in middle of the day. Don’t exactly remember what we ate (paninis & dessert?), but the net effect was excellent. May have to try this for my birthday?…

Great anniversary
We really enjoyed the intimate setting of R Bistro. It was our wedding anniversary dinner out, and we are still reminiscing about our dining experience at R Bistro two days later!

Just about perfect
Our first experience at R Bistro was just about perfect! We liked the casual atmosphere of the small restaurant. We were made to feel welcome immediately and our waiter was excellent. The food was outstanding; everything I ate was cooked and seasoned perfectly. The flavors of seemingly ordinary foods exploded in your mouth…

Delightful
We had a wonderful lunch at the delightful R Bistro over Final Four weekend. While not the most accessible restaurant, R Bistro was worth the hike down Massachusetts Avenue. The service was friendly and knowledgeable. The food was simple but oustanding…

Impressed with prices
While we have always had great food at R Bistro, in the past we felt put off by the service. This time, however, we had both excellent food and friendly, attentive service. We had an interesting bottle of wine and very good food all around. We also were impressed with the prices, which we think are very fair for the quality of food served…

#1 fave
Bacon and lamb paninis were the order of the day for my deightful friend and I. An R bistro panini enhanced by tomato relish chutney! Life at midday does not get any better. For lunch and dinner, R bistro has been and is now my #1 overall Indianapolis area restaurant for food, service and ambience!

The best
Time and again Regina has proved her restaurant to be the best quality, selection and service in Indy. She does all of this with local foods, which we greatly appreciate. She also empowers her other chefs to create marvelous contributions to the menu – with recognition.

Decent but…
It’s a decent place until the owner/head chef makes her presence known. After hearing about the local ingredients and independent mindset, my wife and I were eager to try R Bistro with friends. We won’t go back – Regina, the owner, was so independently minded that she acted like she can do just fine on her own, without new customers…

Amazing
R Bistro is an amazing resturant for any occassion. Although the food might be a little on the expensive side, there is nothing on the weekly changin menu that won’t tingle your taste buds. The chef has lived in New Orleans…

Unique
A unique restaurant featuring a menu which changes weekly. Always includes a meat, fish and vegetarian dish. A slow food advocate utilizing mainly local producers. Consistently tasty food at reasonable prices with a fairly priced wine list with interesting choices.

Best value
Hands down this is my favorite restaurant in town. Regina changes her menu weekly and never fails to deliver refreshing, scruptious meals. One of the things I most like is that the portions are sane! I am not impressed by large quantities of food. I feel I get my best value here of all the restaurants in Indy…

Imaginative
Regina Mehallick is the delightful chef-owner of R Bistro. She changes her dinner menu weekly depending on what is fresh and available locally. She is imaginative in her offerings with 5 appetizers, 5 entrees and 5 desserts. There is always something that pleases and, because it changes, we never tire of going…

Inside Dish detailed review:
Our first subject is R bistro, the highly decorated chef-owned oasis of contemporary American cuisine on the far end of downtown’s Massachusetts Ave corridor. The restaurant that focuses on Indiana-produced ingredients is the fruit of a gutsy career change for chef and co-owner Regina Mehallick…
