Indy Irish Fest Comin’ Round the Brae

Indy Irish Fest
September 18-20, 2009

This year promises to be another big Irish to-do in the downtown Indianapolis sector called Military Park. Festival organizers have set up a never-ending outdoor party for Hoosiers in Indianapolis, providing an opportunity to celebrate the Irish in them. There will be no fewer than four stages around the Military Park locale to keep the party going including several area celtic rock bands.

Video about Indy’s Irish Fest

Originally called “Camp Sullivan” during the Civil War, and then “Military Ground,” Military Park got its present name in the 1800’s, when the site was used to train military troops during the Black Hawk War. Since then, the large space has seen plenty of people marching, but most of them have been in parades.

Indianapolis children love the Indy Irish Fest as much as their parents, and those under 13 get in free. Below is a taste of the lively Indy Irish Fest schedule. Please click here for a summation of this year’s Indy Irish Fest 2009, or visit the event’s website for all the details.
