Luther Head is now an Indiana Pacer

The Indiana Pacers have continued their quest to build a team that will put them back on top of the NBA’s Eastern Conference today by signing free agent Luther Head. Luther grew up just north of Indiana in Chicago, IL where he played collegiate ball for University of Illinois in the Big Ten conference against local powers Indiana University and Purdue University.

Luther Head is a 6-3, 185-pound shooting guard that has spent four years in the NBA between the Houston Rockets and the Miami Heat. He will take to the hardwood at Conseco Fieldhouse in downtown Indianapolis as part of the new-look Pacers who have been busy this off-season. Head will be joined by rookies Tyler Hansbrough and A.J. Price as well as other off-season pick ups Dahntay Jones, Solomon Jones and Earl Watson as the new members of our team.

With the Indiana Fever about to start the playoffs as one of the favorites to win the WNBA title this year and the Pacers set to tip-off their preseason at the begining of October, Indianapolis is all a buzz with basketball. Hoosier hoop legend and Pacer’s team president Larry Bird was quoted as saying, “Luther is a guy we have had our eye on.” “He can shoot, he has speed and quickness and he will fit in well with our up-tempo game. I think he’s going to be a good addition to our basketball team.”

Will Luther Head‘s 8.6 points per game career average be the missing piece to what has been ailing the Pacers? I don’t know. I do know however that when “Larry Legend” is excited the whole Circle City should be excited.
