500 Festival Calls For Volunteers

The Indianapolis 500 Festival is looking for some fresh blood, it announced today that it would hold its first ever 500 Festival Volunteer Fair. The Indianapolis event is being generously hosted by Pacers Sports and Entertainment. It will take place on Thursday, November 5 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Conseco Fieldhouse. If you attend the Volunteer fair you will have a chance to win prizes, free food and drinks, and maybe even tickets to 500 Festival events and the Indianapolis 500 Practice and Qualification days.

The Indianapolis 500 Festival is a gigantic undertaking for the city of Indianapolis, and this Indianapolis non-profit organization is looking for volunteers to help with various Indianapolis community events and programs. Without the aid of volunteers, the citywide celebration of the biggest Indianapolis sports event all year could not happen.

Throughout the month of May dozens of events occur such as the Indianapolis 500 Festival Community Day, the Indianapolis 500 Festival Kids Day, the Indianapolis 500 Festival Mini-Marathon, or the Indianapolis 500 Festival Parade. At the Indianapolis 500 Festival Volunteer Fair, Indianapolis people can learn about more than 100 different volunteer opportunities available for both individuals and groups.

These opportunities are great for team building and character building in your Indianapolis kids. Give back to Indianapolis and play a part in a 53 year old tradition in the Circle City. And to top it all off, 500 Festival organizers are willing to work with any and all volunteers to match them to opportunities that best fit their needs.

“Volunteers are the lifeblood of our organization,” said Joelle Baugher, Program Manager, 500 Festival. “We are very fortunate and grateful that each year 7,000 volunteers contribute their time to our events and programs, and they are the reason why the 500 Festival is one of the largest and most successful festivals in the nation.”

Registration for the 2010 Volunteer Program opens in January. If you get your name on the list before 5:00 pm on April 12, 2010, you will receive a special invitation to Volunteer Appreciation Day at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway on May 15. In addition, all volunteers will get a thank you gift composed of a 500 Festival volunteer T-shirt, a Volunteer Program Pin, 500 Festival official credentials, and free snacks and parking. Have fun while you help! What could be better.
