Halloween Happenings with Living History

If you’re searching for festive haunted happenings during the 2009 Halloween season, look no further than Conner Prairie Living History Museum. Between a Headless Horseman, a hayride at dusk, and a giant pumpkin drop, Halloween week at Conner Prairie is packed with plenty of tricks and treats.

First up is Indy Hub at Headless Horseman on Thursday evening from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. This event is sponsored by Indy Hub, the Circle City’s favorite resource for young professionals. If you’re relatively new to the working world and want to do some networking while enjoying some spooky fall fun, then this event is for you.

The night will begin with a picnic dinner outside, so make sure to bundle up. Next, you’ll sip some spirited cocktails and roast s’mores around a crackling campfire before the hayride heads out. As darkness falls, settle in the piles of hay for an Autumn adventure around the grounds of Conner Prairie. Make sure you stay alert during the hayride–the Headless Horseman is likely to make a surprise appearance.

When you return, feel free to stay for the other Headless Horseman activities and tell ghost

stories around the campfire. This Indianapolis event is a great way to celebrate the season and make new friends at the same time. Tickets are $15 per person, and must be purchased in advance.

After Thursday night’s Halloween fun concludes, you’ll want to be up bright and early on Friday for the annual WZPL Pumpkin Drop, in conjunction with Indianapolis radio giant 99.5 WZPL FM. Join Dave Smiley and the rest of his morning crew as they take their morning show to Conner Prairie. From 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m., listen to the Smiley Morning Show‘s trademark banter as they drop giant pumpkins from a crane hundreds of feet above the ground.

While the morning show showers Indianapolis with fall’s favorite fruit, Conner Prairie will be buzzing with other Halloween happenings as well. Bring in your Indianapolis kids for plenty of tasty treats and creepy chills and thrills. Make sure to come in your costumed best!
