Toro to present a performance master class to kick-off Cabaret Academy

The Cabaret at Columbia Club in downtown Indianapolis will present Natalie Toro:  “Standards, Broadway, and Everything In Between” on November 13th and 14th.Come join the crew at the Cabaret here in Indianapolis to hear some of your favorite Broadway song from yesterday and today.

Natalie Toro brings her critically acclaimed solo show to Indy from New York’s Metropolitan Room where she performed to sold out audiences.   Natalie infuses her Latin culture with her Broadway background as she takes the audience through her journey from the Bronx to Broadway Diva!

Toro will also present a master class while in Indianapolis, as a kick-off for The Cabaret’s education program, the Cabaret Academy.   Throughout the Signature Cabaret Series, nationally acclaimed performers will offer master classes in a variety of topics.  These classes will provide local participants the opportunity to hone their craft with the finest of practitioners in the genres of Broadway, Jazz and Cabaret.

Indianapolis music students will have a once in a lifetime chance to learn performance techniques from an accomplished Broadway Star!  This intensive professional training will give each singer the opportunity to work one-on-one a song in a master class setting with Natalie Tore, a nationally renowned Broadway and cabaret diva.  Toro will work with each singer on topics such as:  how to connect with an audience, interpretation of lyrics, stage presence, and “selling” the song in performance.

Class size is limited.  Only the first ten people to enroll will get to sing for Toro.  All others will observe this once-in-a-lifetime class.   Singers will be chosen to sing based upon first-come, first serve and will be notified if they are chosen to sing.  Please bring music in the correct key.  An accompanist will be provided.

ABOUT NATALIE TORO: At age five Toro began studying music at the Manhattan School of Music and continued there until she was eighteen years old.  Toro also attended the High School of Music and Art and went on to study at the Boston Conservatory of Music where she earned a BFA in Musical Theater.   Toro’s Broadway credits include Eponine in Les Miserables, Sally in A Christmas Carol, Madame Therese Defarge in A Tale of Two Cities.  Her national tours include Mary Magdalene in Jesus Christ Superstar, Eva Peron in the 20th anniversary tour of Evita (Jeff Award nomination), Grizabella in Cats, and Rosalia in West Side Story (Japan).

Toro has performed at Carnegie Hall, the National Concert Hall in Dublin; with the Kentucky and Buffalo Symphony Orchestras, and with the Ed Caccavale Orchestra in New York City (with Tony Fusco).  Toro has two solo CDs:  the self-titled, Natalie Toro, and Bailando En La Luz, a salsa tribute album to the timeless songs of Broadway, sung in Spanish.
