Oz the Musical Plays

L. Frank Baum’s famous children’s novel The Wizard of Oz has seen many incarnations. From the first ever staged version in the 1930s to the MGM studio film starring Judy Garland to the Broadway smash hit Wicked, this story has grown to be one of the theatre worlds most performed tales ever. See it in its latest incarnation as Oz The Musical this Tuesday, December 8 at the Murat Theatre Centre (now the Old National Centre) in Indianapolis downtown. This updated version of Dorothy’s classic tale is not the same one your grandmother remembers watching on the silver screen as a little girl.

Updated by Todrick D. Hall, who first gained recognition on Broadway for his performance in Oprah’s Broadway production of The Color Purple, Oz the Musical creates a wonderful Land of Oz for the twenty first century kid. Hall has been all over the New York theatre circuit. From performing in Disney’s Beauty and the Beast and The Radio City Music Hall Christmas Spectacular with the world famous Rockettes to understudying the role of Harpo and working as supporting characters in Oprah’s The Color Purple, Hall has seen it all in his young career. The touring production of Oz the Musical, which comes to the Circle City this week, is the ninth production of his original musical. In addition to Oz the Musical, Hall has written three other original musicals.

See this powerhouse voice bring new life to Todrick D. Hall’s original score.
