The Foreigner Opens at Beef and Boards this Weekend

Beef and Boards Dinner Theatre kicks off 2010 with the hilarious comedy The Foreigner by Larry Shue running January 6th through February 7th. Unmatched in total experience Beef and Boards Dinner Theatre gives its audiences a total experience from soup to nuts (almost literally) and entertainment to boot. This Indianapolis theatre is a favorite among Hoosiers looking for a little escapism. Beef and Boards Dinner Theatre makes its reputation on treating every patron like a star. If your in the mood for a little funny and a lot of food this month, check out The Foreigner at Beef and Boards Dinner Theatre on the north side of Indianapolis.

Directed by Indianapolis artist, Eddie Curry (of Beef and Boards’ A Christmas Carol and the Phoenix Theatre’s Shipwrecked earlier this year), The Foreigner is sure to have the same great comedic timing and personality that the director has demonstrated in the past. Starring favorite Indianapolis performing arts faces including Jeff Stockberger, Ty Stover, Kate Braun, Sarah Hund, David Schmittous, David Purdy and Dan Scharbrough, The Foreigner is an uproarious comedy filled with miscommunication and scheming.

Charlie Baker is a shy man on vacation with his best friend “Froggy” LaSueur. When they arrive at a rural fishing lodge, Charlie insists that he be left alone. His buddy Froggy devises a plan to meet Charlie’s wishes: Charlie will pretend to be a foreigner who does not understand English. However, when the other vacationers meet this mysterious and quiet stranger, they are strangely drawn to him. The whole crew finds it easy to open up to the man who does not understand them (supposedly). The unlucky Charlie lands smack dab in the middle of their schemes, secrets and plans. Compelled to help the unknowing victims, Charlie finds himself attempting to right the wrongs of the other guests and prevent their underhanded plots. Watch as this comedy builds to an unexpected and hilarious outcome for all.

The Foreigner is an award winning comedy. As the winner of two Outer Circle Awards for Best New American Play and Best Off Broadway Production, The Foreigner is a comedic romp that can’t go wrong. With 36 performances at the Beef and Boards Dinner Theater, Indianapolis people can enjoy what so many other in the theatre world have hailed as “sophisticated slapstick.” Tickets for this Indianapolis art event range from $35.00 to $58.00, which includes Chef Odell Ward’s specially prepared buffet with fruit and salad bar, plus unlimited coffee and tea.
