Beef and Boards Presents the Dance Classic Footloose

Beef and Boards Dinner Theatre presents the 1980s hit Footloose Thursday, February 11 through March 21. Indianapolis theatre goers will be toe tapping, even dancing, in their seats as they enjoy the stage adaptation of the famed movie musical. Tickets to this Indianapolis performing arts event range from $35.00 to $58.00, which includes Chef Odell Ward’s yummy buffet. This Indianapolis art organization definitely provides a total experience!

Footloose is by far one of the most celebrated movie turned musical ever. Upon its release in 1984, it was an instant hit with young audiences. The film was nominated for two Academy Awards, a Golden Globe and Grammy. When Footloose (the musical) opened on Broadway in 1998, it garnered a whopping four Tony Award nominations. A remake of the film, starring “Gossip Girl’s” Chance Crawford and “Dancing with the Stars'” Julianne Hough, is currently in production and due for release in 2011.

Famous for its pop appeal, Footloose originated some of the biggest chart toppers of the 1980s including “Footloose,” “Almost Paradise,” and of course “Let’s Hear It For The Boy.” Now Beef and Boards Dinner Theatre brings the songs and story to life on their stage.

A rebellious teenager from Chicago, Ren McCormack (Dominic Sheahan-Stahl) lands in small town Bomont. Though Ren loves to dance, in Bomont it is against the law and morals of the town’s minister (Eddie Curry). With the staunch stance that rock and roll music is evil, Reverend Shaw Moore wrecks any possible fun the kids of small town Bomont can have.

His daughter, the beautiful Ariel (Erin P. West), is trapped by the repressive town. That is until Ren moves in and shakes things up. By giving the town kids the outlet of dance, Ren grows to be both a town hero and a town outlaw. Find out how Reverend Moore reacts when Ren leads the teens of Bomont in a revolutionary cause.

Directed by Doug Stark with choreography by Doug King, Footloose has 46 performances at Beef and Boards Dinner Theatre this month. This toe tapping pop culture phenomenon will rouse your spirits; “cut Footloose” at this Indianapolis event. For more information, visit Beef and Boards Dinner Theatre’s official website.
