Show times are Friday at 7:30 pm and Saturday at 2:00 pm and 7:30 pm. In a one of a kind dance performance the Indiana Ballet Company breaks the traditional boundaries in which ballet is held.

From Shakespeare with Love features original choreography by Artistic Director Alyona Yakovleva combined artfully with readings of Shakespeare’s sonnets and live and recorded music. Inspired by the sonnets of Shakespeare, Yakovleva set out to express the power of emotion contained in each fourteen line poem. The Bard’s words have transcended time and culture to reach into the heart of humanity year after year.

In this original creation by the Indiana Ballet Company, Shakespeare’s sonnets are given new life as it “weaves together a timeless connection and expression of love through the universal language of dance.” Yakoveleva employs many diverse style of dance to tell the story of Shakespeare’s sonnets. With music of varying periods and genres and reading by master actor Tim Hardy, From Shakespeare with Love is for anyone who loves literature, dance, music or romance.

Hardy, a former visiting professor at Butler University’s Theatre department, faculty member of the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts and former member of the Royal Shakespeare Company in the United Kingdom, lends his talents to this Indianapolis theatre event. “The Indiana Ballet Company’s production of From Shakespeare with Love beautifully brought to life the passion and pathos of Shakespeare’s sonnets,” says Butler University Professor of Theatre Diane Timmerman. “My Yakovleva sensitively blended movement and words to create a delicate, dynamic and richly satisfying evening of poetry and dance.”
