St. Patty’s Day at McGinleys’ Golden Ace Inn

Looking for a great place to party the day away on Saturday, March 17? Look no further than McGinleys’ Golden Ace Inn, the oldest Irish pub in Indianapolis, for all of your St. Patrick’s Day celebratory needs. McGinleys’ is a legendary Indianapolis bar and restaurant famous for its rousing games of trivia, live Irish and Celtic music, and flowing pints of traditional Irish brews.

McGinleys’ was established four months after prohibition ended by Irish immigrants John and Anne McGinley in 1934 and is still owned by the McGinley family today, making it a fun part of Indianapolis history. In addition, the annual St. Patrick’s Day celebration at McGinleys’ boasts the honor of being the longest-running St. Patty’s Day pub party in the nation. So make sure you stop by on Wednesday, March 17 to get in on an integral spring tradition in the Circle City.

Since Indy is typically still undeniably chilly in March most years, McGinleys’ is prepared with a big heated tent for those 21 and over who are looking for the best way to party. Live Irish music will keep you dancing and the wide array of hot, traditional Irish grub will keep you warm. Come prepared to dance, laugh, and be merry while sampling some of Ireland’s favorite stouts and cocktails.

Make sure to try out one of the “Top 25 Cheeseburgers in Indianapolis” while you’re at McGinleys’ Golden Ace Inn (chosen by Indianapolis Monthly magazine for 2009). And warm up with a bowl of hearty chili, clam chowder or bean soup to round out your meal. For the brave connesuir of foreign foods, give the Braunschweiger a go as well.

The musical line-up for the day is impressive, and is sure to please even the most diverse of Indianapolis music lovers. Pat Grant, the best Irish tenor in Indiana, will kick things off, and will hand over the microphone to Derek Warfield and the Young Wolfe Tones. To find out the rest of the live entertainment for the day, head to McGinleys’ website.

McGinleys’ may be throwing an all-day extravaganza  to celebrate March’s favorite holiday, but this upbeat  pub celebrates Irish culture all year round. So make sure to check out some of the pub’s ongoing activities, including Pub Trivia, which is held once a month.
