Grab a Brew at Granite City Food & Brewery on the North Side

If you’re looking for something fun to do this week but  are tired of your usual favorite Indianapolis restaurants, check out the well-kept secret Granite City Food & Brewery. This North-side gem arrived on the Indy scene in 2009, and if you’ve still yet to try it, then you’re missing out.

Granite City is located on W. 96th St. and conveniently close to Carmel and Broad Ripple. The fun, upbeat atmosphere makes it a perfect place for grabbing a brew with friends on a Thursday night or heading out to celebrate a birthday over the weekend. This brewery chain was born in St. Cloud, Minnesota, in June of 1999, and franchises have popped up all over the country since then.

Since the arrival of Granite City Food & Brewery in the Circle City, Hoosiers can now compare the goods with the local competition, including the Broad Ripple Brewpub and Rock Bottom Brewery. From the smooth, creamy Northern Light Lager to the dry, roasted chocolate perfection of the the traditional Irish Broad Axe Stout, there’s something for every palette. And if beer isn’t your thing, Granite City also has a full bar for you to enjoy.

The food at Granite City Food & Brewery is typical bar food with a sophisticated twist. One of the menu favorites is the rich, decadent Four Cheese Sausage Rigatoni, which pairs oven-roasted Italian sausage with potent, melted cheeses for a filling, satisfying dinner. And the burgers, if that’s your thing, are hard to beat–the Buffalo Burger is pretty close to perfection on a grilled, toasty bun.

If you’re looking for a way to get a slightly better price on these delicious entrees and more, Granite City offers up its famed Mug Club to Indianapolis customers. Join this exclusive club and being receiving benefits immediately, including food discounts, special tap beer offerings, and nightly promotions for free food, wine, and give-aways. And on Sunday, Mug Club members receive a special treat with Prime Rib Brunch discounts. For more information on the Mug Club points system and benefits, visit the Granite City website.

The interior of the restaurant is a beer lovers’ paradise, with rich wooden accents and thick-cushioned, roomy booths. The bar itself is the star of the room with the wide array of beers on tap clearly displayed and dim lighting for optimum atmosphere. Nighttime is the best time to visit this fun Indianapolis bar and sample some of the city’s finest brews, but you can pop in for lunch too–it opens every day at 11:00 a.m., except for Sunday, when you can get your hot breakfast fix beginning at 10:00 a.m.

Next time you find yourself wanting a fun, relaxed evening out with friends or have been looking for the perfect place to spend time with that special someone, head to Granite City and see for yourself why it’s a great addition to Indianapolis culture. And make sure to stay tuned to for all of the latest Indianapolis news, events, and information!
