Comedian Ralphie May

The Murat Centre and Theare near Mass Ave brings a number of outrageous and fun acts to the Circle City every week. This Friday, March 12 comedian Ralphie May takes the stage in the Egyptian Room of the Murat Theatre. He was blasted to fame by the first season of NBC’s hit reality show Last Comic Standing, and now he is in Indy tickling Hoosiers’ funny bones.

Many fans of Ralphie May believed he was robbed of the title of Last Comic Standing on the the NBC show of the same name. But that hasn’t stopped him from becoming one of the hardest working comedians touring the United States today. His special brand of comedy has garnered him throngs of admirers from every background. His humor mixes hip hop with topical comedy, seasoned with a dash of his down home southern charm. His quick wit and approachable attitude have gotten him far in life. His first DVD, Just Correct, even went platinum. This collection of his favorite routines and parts of his USO Tour to Iraq has been described as, “fresh and very, very funny.”

Since hitting it big, Ralphie May has been featured in film, television and radio. He has appeared on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, The Late Late Show with Craig Kilborn four times and Jimmy Kimmel Live eleven times. In addition, he has been seen on The Man Show, Tough Crowd, ESPN’s Mohr Sports, MTV’s Bash and a number of NBC sitcoms including Whoopie. He has also taken featured roles in films like For DA Love of Money and Gas.

The New York Times called Ralphie, “phenomenal,” and the Washington Post described him as a “Tour de Force.” Born in Tennessee and raised all over the Southeast, Ralphie May has come a long way from his first appearance at the age of seventeen in a talent show that won him the honor of opening for Sam Kinison.
