Performances will be given by Key School Circus, Peru Amateur Circus, Krembo K. of the Blue Monkey Side Show and Snakehead Ed. Based out of Peru, Indiana, the Peru Amateur Circus makes its home in a historic circus location, giving these Hoosiers a deep Circus heritage. Their performance season doesn’t usually start until mid-July, but this Saturday they offer a special sneak peek of their summer show.

Snakehead Ed, also known as Ed Ferrer, is a retired middle school teacher with a passion for snake handling. He has turned his love of reptiles into an education and entertaining presentation, where he shares the wonders of the snake world with Indianapolis kids across the Circle City. His background as a teacher gives him a talent for feeling out group dynamics, particularly among children. His snake presentations are always engaging and fun for little ones.

In addition to these performances, the Indiana History Center’s Ninth Annual Circus Day features clowns, jugglers, acrobats and more. Enjoy as these entertainers tickle your funny bone with balloon animals and amaze with feats of coordination and gymnastics. A real life magician will also be on hand to perform magic shows, with illusions that will blow you away.

Kids can roll up their sleeves and plunge into circus fun up to their elbows with carnival games, face painting, balloon sculptures and crafts. All this and a real calliope. This musical instrument produces song through the use of gas, steam or compressed air. Used in traveling circuses, the real calliope will certainly set the tone for a fun filled day of circus activity at the Indiana History Center.
