Czech Collectors Convention at the Hilton North (East Indianapolis)

For ever niche of decorative arts there follows a niche of collectors. The Czech Collectors Association is an Indianapolis nonprofit organization dedicated to the preservation of Austrian, Bohemian and Czechoslovakian decorative arts. The annual Czech Collectors Convention happens at Indianapolis hotel the Hilton North June 10 to 13 with a host of events to connect dealers and collectors. This exciting Indianapolis art event requires pre registration with fees. However the Czech Collectors Association also plans to present a FREE seminar on this interesting hobby and tradition.

The Czech Collectors Association fosters the collection and appreciation of art glass, ceramics and other decorative arts from Austria, Bohemia and Czechoslovakia, known to those in the business as the ABC’s of collecting. Through research, education, a biannual Newsletter and events like the Czech Collectors Convention, the Czech Collectors Association keeps this important art form prevalent to today’s society.

At the annual convention, the CCA sponsors seminars from leading researchers in the field. This year they proudly welcome Jiri Harcuba, a world renowned engraver, to speak at the 2010 Czech Collectors Convention. Harcuba was born in Harrachov, in what is now the Czech Republic. While there, he apprenticed in the region’s internationally renowned engraving studios, where he developed his hand at portrait engraving and medallions. In addition to becoming a leader in the world of engraving, Harcuba is also a preeminent glass artist having taught around the world at institutions including the Pilchuck Glass School, the Corning Museum of Glass, the Royal Academy of Art in London and the Academy of Applied Arts in Prague.

This year’s convention offers a range of decorative arts and information about the work of the Czech Collectors Association. Though the event lasts from June 10 to June 13, the CCA invites Indianapolis people to a FREE ┬áintroduction to ABC Pottery and Glass seminar. Afterward, preview the items up for auction and watch as these valuable works find new homes.
