The film begins at sunset, but patrons are invited to arrive early to get a good spot and picnic through the evening. Don’t miss this exciting outdoor film at the IMA’s Summer Night’s Film Series.

Released in 1995, The Usual Suspects stars Kevin Spacey, Gabriel Byrne, Stephen Baldwin, Kevin Pollack and Benicio del Toro. The film opens as a mysterious figure, identified only as Keyser, stands on the deck of a ship in San Pedro, California. After a breif conversation, Keyser appears to shoot the man he speaks with (Keaton) and set the ship ablaze. As the FBI begins its investigation of the incidents on the boat, it seems that accident left only two survivors Verbal Kint (Keven Spacey) a con artist with cerebral palsy and a hospitalized Hungarian criminal. The Hungarian identifies Keyser Soze, a Turkish criminal mastermind with a mythic reputation, as the man responsible for the crime.

Meanwhile, Verbal Kint agrees to testify at length about his involvement in the events in exchange for near total immunity. After processing at the police department, he finds himself in the cluttered office of Sergeant Jeffery Rabin (Dan Hedaya) who demands to hear the whole story from beginning to end. Verbal begins his tale six weeks earlier in New York City.

His tale is an unbelievable journey through the underbelly of the crime world. As five criminal s converge, a twisted tale of robbery, corruption, blackmail, organized crime and drug trafficking unfolds. It all seems to center around and lead back to one man: Keyser Soze. Yet, this elusive criminal remains at large with only one ailing witness of his face in police captivity. As the hospitalized Hungarian struggles to stay alive and identify Soze’s face, Verbal’s story gets more and more intricate.

Will the San Pedro police be able to answer the all important question, “Who is Keyser Soze?” before he slips through their grasp? Find out in this classic neo-noir film. A gem of a film, The Usual Suspects received critical and commercial success. Both Christopher McQuarrie and Kevin Spacey were nominated for Academy Awards for their work on the Screenplay and as a Supporting Actor, respectively. Both took home the Oscar. The film garnered a slew of other awards, including a British Academy Film Award and an Independent Spirit Award.
