Get Down at White Rabbit Cabaret: May 2011 Events

The White Rabbit Cabaret is a chic new bar in the heart of Indianapolis cultural district, Fountain Square. This Indianapolis bar presents a range of Indianapolis events each night from comics to singers to dancers. The White Rabbit Cabaret presents several Indianapolis artists on stage in May 2011, allowing Indianapolis people to truly get down with some fun. With a growing reputation for cheap entertainment and affordable craft beer, the White Rabbit invites all of Indianapolis‘ “Hopstars” to hop on over and shake their tail. Head to Fountain Square and look for the store front with a bunny on top to participate in these Cottontail events.

Thursday, May 19: Absurd Third Thursday Stand Up Comedy Night

This Thursday, White Rabbit invites Host Isaac Landfert to MC Absurd Third Thursdays Stand Up Comedy Night. White Rabbit transforms into an Indianapolis comedy club to compete with. National performer Michael Malone headlines the show. His intense, yet worried, persona makes him a crowd favorite hands down.

This seasoned comedian has taken stages in more than twenty seven states and was a featured performer on the Indianapolis based nationally syndicated Bob and Tom Radio and TV Show. He has also performed on the National Lampoon’s Operation Comedy Tour, WGN TV, NBC Night Shirt with Kevin Ferguson and XM Sirus Radio. Malone was also a finalist for the CW Star Search.

Malone will be joined on stage by Blake Boatwright and Courtney Kay Meyers. This evening of entertainment has only a $3.00 cover at the door. With $3.00 craft draft beers on tap, $2.00 PBR Draft and $2.00 High Life, the White Rabbit will get you drunk and make you laugh for less than twenty bucks. Doors open at 7 PM, the show starts at 8 PM. Seating is first come first serve.

Friday, May 20: Hasenpfeffer Performs

The White Rabbit Cabaret is famous for their Hasenpfeffer troupe, which makes regular appearances on the White Rabbit Cabaret stage. This burlesque group includes dancers, beautiful bunnies, belly dancers and Bozo the Clown. This in-house dance troupe combine sex and laughs in a dance routine like no other.

Prior to their performance, the Muncie Brothers, Indianapolis favorite mime and clown team, set the ground rules for the crowd. Watch these two hilarious entertainers than stick around for dances from the Hasenpfeffer ladies including Alabaster Betty, Scarlett Charlotte, Rua Lune, Lilly Lou and Poppy Stacatto.

This Friday is your last chance to see their celebrated “Year of the Rabbit” show. Plus, its the White Rabbit’s one-year anniversary. Doors open at 8 PM and the performance begins at 10 PM. Cover charge at the door is only $7.00.

Saturday, May 21: The Embraceables, Pop Lolita and Everything, Now!

The Embraceables are a “musical matriarchy” that examines the mythology of the sexually liberated female and problematic social identity. With a gentle mix of the song-bird Nora Jones and the in-your-face masculine rock of Peaches, the Embraceables are a self-proclaimed group of tramps who bring pop art and populace driven music together in unheard of ways.

Plus, this show features performances from Indianapolis music favorites Pop Lolita and Everything, Now! The cover charge at the door is only $6.00. Doors open at 8 PM and the music starts at 9 PM.

Tuesday, May 24: Henry Wolfe and Brian Deer

Henry Wolfe is a Los Angeles based singer songwriter. His latest album “Linda Vista” is “a winsome, sunshiney debut reminiscent of Randy Newman and Paul Simon.” His music is a gesture to a simpler time for songwriting when folk music made a real difference in the world. During the three years he wrote “Linda Vista” he obsessively listened to old pop and jazz standards, which influenced his writing process.

The evening also features singer Brian Deer. Tickets are only $7.00. Doors open at 8 PM and the music starts at 9 PM.

Wednesday, May 25: Burlesque BINGO

The White Rabbet does BINGO like no other. This isn’t your grandmother’s game, not when its lead by Alabaster Betty and the Muncie Brothers as your hosts. Get down to Fountain Square for Burlesque Bingo, a “double fried, sexified bingo experience.” Plus special guests Frenchy LaRouge of The Rocket Doll Revue will rock the house. Win prizes, play games and guzzle beer for this adults only version of BINGO!

This Indianapolis events happens regularly at the White Rabbit Cabaret. The door is only $5.00. Doors and drinks are at 8 PM and the games begin at 9 PM.

Thursday, May 26: Joey Molinero Record Release Show

Joey Molinero has been the principle violinist of the amplified chamber grind Indianapolis performing arts group Basillica since 2005. Now he’s ready to share his debut record with the Hoosier state. The CD is a suite of seventeen songs for solo acoustic grindcore violin with foot percussion. But he doesn’t stop there, giving listeners a fifteen minute composition with electric violins, electric guitars, electric bass and drum set. Don’t miss a party in his honor, featuring his music! The door is $5.00 and opens at 8 PM. The music begins at 9 PM!

Friday, May 27: Dreamers of the Ghetto w/ The Kemps and The Pass

Check out these Indianapolis bands before their newly signed record deals make them bigger than the Indianapolis music scene. Dreamers of the Ghetto just signed a contract with Temporary Residence Records, meaning in the coming year they will BLOW UP. See them in an intimate affordable setting before they get too big to be in reach.

The Kemps just signed with Glory Hole Records, a hot new Indianapolis based label. Also on hand The Pass, a “dreamy, electro-pop rock from Louisville, Kentucky.” The door is $6. Music starts at 9 PM.

Saturday, May 28: The Yelp 500 After Party

The Yelp Party at Big Car’s new Service Center near Lafayette Square Mall, is the biggest spectacle this May not having to do with racing. Party at the Big Car Service Center, then head to Fountain Square in Indianapolis downtown for an amazing after party. This White Rabbit event is FREE to all including FREE food, FREE drinks and FREE entertainment. Just remember to RSVP on the White Rabbit website. The fun starts at 8 PM.
