Quash at Flat 12 Bierwerks Supports Alzheimer’s Association

Flat 12 Bierwerks presents Quash: one part scavenger hunt, one part obstacle course and a whole lot of fun. This Indianapolis event aims to bring Hoosiers together in the quest to unravel Alzeheimer’s. Proceeds from Flat 12 Bierwerks Quash benefit Alzeheimer’s research and treatment by the Alzheimer’s Association. Head to Flat 12 Bierwerks in Indianapolis downtown Saturday, June 18 from 9:30 am to 3:00 pm to “Quash” out Alzheimer’s. Organize a group of friends, family and co-workers, create a team name and raise at least $200 to participate in this outrageously fun Indianapolis event.
Think The Amazing Race minus the television cameras and the globally stamped passport. Quash is a chance for teams to race through clues, answer trivia and rise to the occasion of obstacles as they go on an unprecedented adventure. Each Quash participant will delight in the knowledge that their support will help support the mission of the Alzheimer’s Association. The Quash event helps to fund their mission of eliminating Alzeheimer’s disease through the advancement of research and to enhance care and support for individuals, their families and caregivers.

The Alzheimer’s Association provides a variety of services to patients and their families including a twenty four hour a day, seven days a week information and referral Helpline, family care planning with a licensed social worker, support groups and family and profession education programs. In addition they provide the important service of MedicAlert + Safe Return. This nationwide identification program helps individuals with Alzheimer’s who have wandered.
Alzheimer’s is a fatal and progressive brain disease with no cure and no survivors. Many believe that the disease only strikes the elderly. This commonly held idea is, in fact, untrue. Alzheimer’s affects both young and old. But more than that, it affects the friends and families left behind. As the sixth leading cause of death in the United States, Alzheimer’s affects more than 5.4 million Americans.

The families burdened to provide unpaid care for their loved ones face a life changing responsibility that is both financially and emotionally draining. Not only can medical bills be debilitating to a family budget, but watching the mental deterioration of a parent or sibling is, no doubt, one of the hardest experiences. As the baby boomer generation ages, it is expected that as many as 16 million Americans will develop the disease. This drain on the health care system no only bankrupts families but also communities and entire industries.

Help support the Alzheimer’s Association by raising funds at the Quash event in Indianapolis this weekend. One day of fun can help research and support of this disease take leaps and bounds forward. Form a team to honor a loved one afflicted with Alzheimers or to support the millions of families who cannot represent themselves.
