The Race

Cyclists will enjoy this unique opportunity to race on the streets of downtown Indianapolis. Follow a .95 mile figure eight from University Park to Monument Circle and back, as you race on wide lanes free from cars. “I love the new Indy Crit Course,” says veteran cyclist Chad Burdzilauskas of the Texas Roadhouse Cycling Team. “Better views for spectators and it will test either breakaway riders or sprinters.”

With a warm-up zone sponsored by TruTrainer, this Indianapolis event offers racers the complete package. Compete to win over $5000 in cash and prizes and the chance to participate in a podium ceremony. Fast accurate results mean quick payouts to premiere amateur and professional cyclists. Sign up for one of seven categories including Masters 40+, Indianapolis kids races, female categories and more.

Plus, no matter where you place, you will receive a free goody bag complete with swag from Gatorade and GU Energy Gel. Don’t miss your chance to feel like a cycling superstar in the streets of Indianapolis downtown.

The Festival

If you are not riding, there is still plenty of fun to be had. Indy Crit also sponsors an Indianapolis festival for spectators hoping to support cyclists. Festival attendees are invited to participate in the CIBA social ride. The route takes your north from downtown to Crown Hill Cemetary, where you will have a chance to become “King of the Mountain” at the highest point in the city (James Whitcomb Riley’s tomb). The 15 and 30 mile route options begin promptly at 9 am. Take a break at the top of the mountain with snacks and beverages, then head back to the beginning of the course.

At 2:45, tandem bike riders have their chance to shine. Dust off that tandem, and grab a friend. Together you can take three laps around the downtown course. Then, hang out at the beer garden and enjoy a selection of brews from Flat 12 Bierwerks. They promise to have their refreshing summer ales on hand including American Wit and Upside Down Blonde. Plus, load-up on food from food trucks including Duos Indy and Tacos Without Borders.

At the race expo, behold the sights and sounds of the racing world. Exhibitors include Dreyer and Reinbold, Team Nebo Ridge, Zipp/ SRAM, Don Walker Cycles, TruTrainer, IndyCog and Heroes Foundation Cycling Team. There is plenty to keep the kids entertained as well. Free bike safety instruction will keep your kiddo healthy and safe. Get a FREE helmet fitting and/ or a FREE helmet replacement. And let your tykes try their pedals in a kid-friendly obstacle course.
