Leaping leprechauns! It’s that time of year again when pints of green beer are suddenly in popular demand, at least for a day. And that can only mean one thing: It’s time to channel your inner Irishman and get ready for one heck of a St. Patrick’s Day celebration.
The “Blarney Bash” takes place this Saturday, March 16, from noon to midnight on the Georgia Street Boardwalk in downtown Indianapolis.
Needless to say, it wouldn’t be a true Irish celebration without beer, and green beer at that! Fortunately, the Blarney Bash is presented by Killian’s, a name practically synonymous with Irish beer. Guests 21 and over can enjoy a green pint of beer from any of several beer tents that will be situated along the boardwalk. These same beer tents will also be open on Friday from 3 – 10 p.m. when the Pacers take on the Lakers.
Several downtown Indianapolis bars and restaurants will participate in the event, including Howl at the Moon, Killroy’s Bar N’ Grill, Tilted Kilt Pub & Eatery and The Pub Indianapolis.
There will also be live entertainment. A live DJ will mix some tracks from noon – 2 p.m., 5 – 7 p.m. and 10 p.m. – midnight. My Yellow Rickshaw, originally from Portland, Indiana, is a local cover band that plays a nice mix of 80s, 90s and contemporary hits, including those by such diverse artists Miley Cyrus, Dave Matthews Band, John Mellencamp, Sublime, Michael Jackson and Coldplay to name just a few. They will perform from 2 – 5 p.m. Finally, Flatbed Twitch is another local, 4-piece band that combines country, soul, gospel and rock ‘n’ roll styles to form a very unique sound. They will perform from 7 – 10 p.m.
